What do you do when your BFF and her family only eat desserts that are eggless and are celebrating birthday and anniversary with us? For starters, hunt for an eggless cake. Me and KR searched the whole neighborhood to get an eggless cake at a decent price, but in avail. Normally I would have baked one but I was too tied up with all the sightseeing and regular cooking that I just didn’t have enough time. So while I was puzzled on what to do, my friend asked me not fret over it and make an Oreo cake!
Until then I had never heard of Oreo cake. I had made No Bake Oreo Truffles- 4 Ingredient recipe before but never made a cake of it. So the minute she suggested it, I was hooked. The plus point of this recipe is that you can make it in a microwave and it takes just…hold your breath…10 MINUTES to be ready! Even my husband takes longer than that to get ready. 😉 So I just couldn’t believe it till I actually tried it out. I mean this is a solution to all our problems. If you can whip up a cake in 10 minutes and that too in a microwave, what more would one want!
We all love Oreo. They are they best cookie ever made and thank god for that. They are so addictive that its dangerous. In fact Oreo are the only cookies that I love, else I don’t really have a sweet tooth for any dessert. Its my brother and husband who love all sweet treats and I enjoy making it for them. After all, it is always fun to make something for someone who enjoys it. Similar way, it was a happy occasion in my best friend’s life and I wanted to make it even more special for her by doing something she would like.
This cake is so easy to make that it almost feels unreal. You need to crumble Oreo in a food processor. Transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add sugar if you like it more sweeter. Then add soda bi carb and milk. It should resemble a cake batter consistency. Pour this batter into a microwave safe bowl after greasing it. Microwave high for 7 – 10 minutes. This could vary for each microwave. I suggest you keep checking after 7 minutes to see if its done.
See, I told you this one was very simple. In fact this is a great recipe to introduce children to cooking. Since this does not involve elaborate cooking methods, many ingredients to work with and having Oreo as the main ingredient surely makes it more appealing to kids. So get your little ones ready and teach them something new to make today!

Finally my cake was ready, so were we to go for the celebratory dinner. Once back home, we face timed her family back in India and our other best friend in New Jersey as we made them cut this cake. It was a technology enhanced celebration. 3 iPad connected with people across the globe to celebrate a happy occasion. It surely was an event to remember!! Thank you my friend for this amazing recipe. The cake was moist, soft and delicious.
Now as promised, here is a BONUS Oreo recipe for you wonderful readers. I call it Oreo Licorice because its chewy and sweet just like a licorice. Again no cooking involved here. All you need is a food processor and a fridge. Pulse Oreo along with cream cheese till it makes a smooth and thick batter consistency. Refer my previous recipe – No Bake Oreo Truffles- 4 Ingredient recipe for the proportion of Oreo and cream cheese. Suggest you add little more cream cheese or little less Oreo to give it a running consistency. Basically you will be unable to shape it into balls. Pour this into a container with parchment paper , sprinkle some while chocolate chips over it and freeze it for 3 hours.
It will not harden completely. Cut into long strips and store it in the freezer. Offer your guests a stick and watch them drool over it. This licorice is one sweet treat which can be enjoyed by all ages. Let me warn you, they are super addictive. You just can’t stop at one. Its chewy, soft and melts in your mouth. I just can’t seem to get enough of Oreo these days! 🙂 How about you?
