Oreo Bark is one of the simplest dessert ever using just 2 ingredients. It’s a no cook recipe & ideal for gifting during holidays. Even kids can prepare it.
It’s the holiday season and we all have gotten busy preparing for it. There is so much to do. This Oreo recipe has been my go-to recipe whenever I want to make something last-minute. I know for sure that this is something that kids love. This recipe is seriously easy to make for a few reasons, firstly it’s a no cook recipe and secondly you just need two ingredients to make it! Ain’t that cool?! I too made it for our Diwali Bash and it was an instant hit specially among the kids. All I had to do was let them know that there was a Oreo treat for them and they all made a beeline to the dining area. It was nice to see a two-year old come up to me and ask me for more Oreo Barks.
I had initially thought of making some other no cook dessert for the kids. However few days ago, I noticed KR munching on a Oreo cookie and I was surprised because I thought we didn’t have any at home. That is when he reminded me that we had stocked some packets before Hurricane Matthew. My eyes lit up. I had completely forgotten about them and much to my husband’s dismay, I took away the packet from him. After all an idea had occurred to me at that very moment to make Oreo Bark for the upcoming Diwali party. KR halfheartedly agreed to let go of the cookies only because he would get to savor it anyways. I had made this recipe a couple of times before like I mentioned above. So I was very comfortable with the process.
If you are a regular here, you would know that I love Oreo cookies and have made a couple of interesting desserts with it. They are No Bake Eggless Oreo Cake, No Bake Oreo Truffles- 4 Ingredient recipe!, Oreo Mug Cake and Oreo Milkshake. I have always made them on some or the other special occasion. That is the thing with Oreo cookies, they are delicious in every form. Not to mention how addictive they can get, you truly cannot stop at one. In fact whenever we travel or am shopping locally, I always hunt for a cookies and cream milkshake to keep me company. It is so filling and delicious. I could drink it the whole day. I agree that it doesn’t help with calories and is very rich and unhealthy. But anything in moderate is alright – is my policy.
Anyways, coming back to this particular recipe, let me tell you how it’s made. First crush the Oreo cookies with your hand and add it to a mixing bowl. Melt white chocolate in the microwave as per the instructions on the pack. Pour it over the crushed Oreo. Fold it gently so that they both get mixed well together. Be careful to not crush the Oreo cookies completely else you will not get this black and white contrast look. Line parchment paper over a cookie tray. Pour this mixture over it, spread it flat and let the crushed Oreo form an uneven base. It’s OK. Let it set. You can leave it outside or place it in the freezer. I think leaving it outside makes it easier to break later.
Let it set for a couple of hours. Then break it in any random shapes. Oreo Bark is now ready. Serve.
While the bark is soft, the unevenly crushed Oreo cookies give it a nice crunch. These barks are delicious! I bet, you will not be able to stop yourself at one. I enjoy making barks because of their simplicity. You can also check out Yogurt Berry Protein Bark that I had made few months ago. It was an instant hit and also a very popular PIN on Pinterest.
