Frothy, sweet and irresistibly pink are best words to describe this 2-ingredient milkshake! This watermelon summer party drink recipe can be made in 2 minutes.
Watermelon Milkshake was a discovery for me! It had never occurred to me that I could make a milkshake with just watermelons! I simply love drinking thick shakes and am one of those who prefer a cold, frothy drink over something hot even during winters. However, summer has just begun here and everyone seems to be bringing their ‘A’ game to the picnic table. Pool parties, picnics in the park, trekking in the woods, play dates and many such outdoor activities is keeping everyone busy. But the food table is even more busier and packed with delicious spreads to accommodate the palates of all. Why would anyone want to be stuck in the kitchen cooking over the hot stove and sweltering hot oven when you can whip up this cool shake in just 2 minutes and then enjoy the outdoors with loved ones!
I have taken this recipe from my bestie’s kitchen. When I was in India few months ago, I was having a ball of a time. Shopping at malls, going to friends places for lunches and dinners, visiting newly opened restaurants around Mumbai and bar hopping were just some of the fun things that took up my day. Summer had just begun there and already the heat was prickly and humid. Just being for half an hour outside would drain you completely. On one such afternoon, me and my bestie made a pit stop at her mom’s house to freshen up. Seeing that we are there, her mom quickly made us a milkshake to help us cool off. That was the first time I had this Watermelon Vanilla Blossom. Only after relishing this drink did I get to know that it was made of watermelon. That left me pleasantly surprised and my friend jokingly suggested that I should feature this recipe on my blog.
Although she was joking, what she said stuck to my head. Back then I did not ask her for the recipe as my mind was too occupied with other things. I then forgot about it once I got back to Orlando, until my eyes spotted these freshly cut watermelons at the grocery store. I immediately texted my friend asking her for this recipe while I happily added these watermelons to my cart. When my friend messaged me back with the recipe, I was amazed to know that this drink can be made with just 2 ingredients and all it needs is a blender. Here is what you need to do to make this lip smacking Watermelon Vanilla Blossom. In a blender, add fresh or frozen watermelon pieces and (hold your breath) vanilla ice cream! That’s all. Blitz till you reach a soft creamy consistency. You can add dairy free vanilla ice cream if you are vegan. Serve this drink chilled. You can even garnish it with some chopped watermelon pieces.
If you do try this recipe, please do share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. This will keep me motivated to develop more interesting recipes. Click a pic and post it with the hashtag #cookiliciousveg . I would love to see your pictures on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!
