One of the most searched drinks this time of the year are fresh and tropical summer drinks! Given the fact that schools are shut, kids are at home after their camps, there are numerous outdoor/backyard parties to attend nearly every week, its no wonder that everyone is searching for a simple, uncomplicated non alcoholic, kid friendly drink that can be enjoyed as a family. Just look at that perfect summery color! The secret is in the simplicity. No complicated ingredients here people, just few easy ingredients is all you need!
Talking about the two fruits I have used for this recipe, Plums and Apples, both are extremely nutritious. Plums are relatively low in calories plus contain a fair amount of important vitamins and minerals. Apples on the other hand are high in fiber, vitamin C, and various antioxidants. They are also very filling with a low calorie count. I wanted to keep the drink low in sugar, so didn’t add any since these fruits are naturally sweet. Plus they both blend beautifully! Take just one sip of this delicious Plum & Apple Juice and you’ll be instantly dreaming of those laid back summer days filled with the sunshine, warm breezes, clear beach and a perfect blue sky!
Now just some quick tips here. No matter from where you get your fruits and vegetables. Always wash them well before consuming. Do not skip this step. I also like to use apples with the skin on unless a recipe specifically call out to peel it. I hear that all the nutrients are in the apple skin, so why take a chance. Straining is another thing where people are confused. To strain or not to strain. I would say, use your judgement. There are some juices I enjoy without straining and for some I do strain. Also, try to incorporate fresh seasonal fruits in your diet.
The recipe to make Plum & Apple Juice is super easy and simple. Just a good blender should do the job. I prefer using fresh fruits whenever possible. I had picked up fresh plums and apples from the Farmer’s Market which is what I used in this recipe. Here is how to make this fruit based drink. In a blender, add chopped plums, chopped apples, roasted cumin powder, black salt (use regular salt if this not available), lemon juice and ice cubes. Blitz it together to make a juice. Pour in serving glasses, throw in some ice cubes and serve chilled. Sip on this instant refresher!

- 4 plums
- 1 apple
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 tsp black salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ice cubes as required
