Tomato JalJeera is one of the most healthiest, nutritious & tasty Indian summer drink with loads of benefits. It’s made by mixing 2 herbs cilantro & mint with tomato.
Before we go on to this recipe, I would like to talk about this wonder blender that I received for review! We all own noisy blenders in our kitchen which when on, no one can do anything else. Haven’t we all wished for a silent/noiseless blender that won’t wake up the kids sleeping in the next room or disrupt the big game in the other room? Now, we can put an end to all the noise complaints and blend with the new Hamilton Beach Sound Shield 950 blender.
A unique two-piece commercial shield, along with technology in the base itself, significantly dims the sound associated with blending your favorite smoothies, salsas, purses and more. You get the high-powered performance you need with this 950W Peak Power Motor, including five-speed increments for multipurpose blending. It also comes with pre-programmed options including Smoothie, Ice Crush, and Puree. However, now you can do all of this without disturbing the rest of your household (That is surely a USP).
I cannot wait to try out different salsas, smoothies, purees and much more in this 48-ounce glass jar which comes with the commercial style quiet shield. I was not fully convinced until I tried it for myself. To try out this unique feature of my new blender, I decided to make an authentic Indian summer drink called JalJeera. However, being known to give a new twist to a regular recipe, I decided to give it a new flavor using tomatoes and called it Tomato JalJeera! It’s an outright summer drink that will quench your thirst on any hot day.
This drink is so popular that it is served at weddings, restaurants and at nearly every household not just in summers but also at the end of a meal to aid in digestion. The recipe is fairly simple. In a Hamilton Beach Sound Shield 950 blender add mint leaves, cilantro, tomatoes, ginger paste and water. Blitz to a smooth paste. Transfer it to a bowl.
Then add lemon juice, amchur powder, pepper powder, black salt, cumin powder and soda in it. Mix it all together and pour in serving glasses. Keep it in the refrigerator until its time to serve. Just before serving add boondi and ice cubes and serve.
This naturally dyed herb drink is all you need at the end of a long tiring day. It so much better than the wine and cocktails (atleast for us) that we swear by it. Drinks like these cater to hot climatic conditions and help to reduce the heat in the body.

- 1/2 cup mint leaves
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 to mato
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 -2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp amchur powder
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- 1 tsp black salt
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- Soda and water as required
- Ice cubes
- Boondi for garnish
