Making it at home is preferred as store bought ones will contain preservatives. I would check the label first. Anyways, making it at home is just a 5 minute task so why wouldn’t you?
Now let me tell you some health benefits of eating Almond butter. It is high in mono-saturated fats, provides dietary protein and is also an excellent source of vitamin E despite being calorie dense.
This butter can be creamy or crunchy. You can choose to roast the almonds before grinding or use them raw. I chose to roast them. This quickens the grinding process and also gives the butter a more nutty flavor. You can choose to flavor the butter by adding honey/maple syrup to give it a sweet taste. I prefer the other way. Salty is it!
2 cups of Organic Almonds
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tbsp any Vegetable Oil
Roast the almonds in a hot pan for 2 minutes.
Cool them. Grind them in a food processor. I use Cuisinart DLC-2011CHB Prep 11 Plus 11-Cup Food Processor, Brushed Stainless and I love it.
The key to this is that you must keep grinding the almonds. It would take 2-3 minutes till it is done. Add the other ingredients while grinding. Refer the pictures below to understand the stages of grinding.
This is the last stage. It is done now.
Store it in a glass jar. The butter will get firmer as it settles. Refrigeration is recommended for it to last for months.
