Evening time is the worst for me as that is when I am hungry the most. It's that in-between time where lunch was long time back and there is still a lot of time for dinner. I feel this is our testing time. If you are religiously following a diet through the day, this afternoon-evening time could be a make or break situation. It is that time when the cravings reach its peak and if you give in to that weak moment, you are done! Your diet has gone for a toss! It is very important to have some healthy snacks handy in your kitchen for moments like these. It is most essential for me as I am known to break my diets with unhealthy munching in the afternoons and it has been a childhood habit. My favorite past time in the afternoon was eating fried snacks straight from the packet itself while reading my comics. Growing up, I had never even heard of baked snacks.

After moving to US, I discovered baking. I keep experimenting with my evening snacks and since I have always been a fan of crunchy and crispy bites, I automatically steer towards such recipes. Bagels are my current obsession. Last week I prepared Guacamole Bagel Sliders for breakfast and it was an instant hit. I kept aside one bagel as I wanted to try out this recipe and am so glad I did! These bagel chips are super addictive and ridiculously easy to prepare. Here is the detailed, step by step recipe to make Baked Bagel Parmesan Chips. In a small bowl add olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder and crushed black pepper. Give it a mix. Cut a bagel into slices and transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Pour the olive oil mixture and sprinkle rock salt. Then add the Parmesan cheese. Lightly toss and mix so that the olive oil mixture coats the bagel slices.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange the slices on a baking tray. Be careful to not overlap them. Place it in the oven and bake it for 15 minutes or till they turn brown and crisp. These are truly the best homemade Baked Bagel Parmesan Chips you will ever have. Packed with flavors and cheese, these snacks will satisfy your cravings and keep you full for quite some time. To sum it up, this baked snack requires everyday ingredients, and that too not many, takes about 15 minutes to get ready and lasts for more than a week if stored in an airtight container. I can totally see myself munching on these while I catch up on my reading every afternoon. The only regret is, I tried this recipe with only one bagel as we finished off the rest in the other recipe. On my next trip to Costco, I am getting a bag full of bagels and then make these chips in bulk! You can use them as croutons for your soups or enjoy them with hummus.
