A hearty breakfast makes your day better!
I had this smoothie for breakfast yesterday. This smoothie combines delicious peaches and raspberries and is a real treat for the taste buds.
Breakfast being the most important meal of the day, experts say not to skip it.
Unfortunately, it's also the time of the day when we are the most rushed.
Trending now
Either getting the little ones ready for school, or trying to get out the door early to beat the morning traffic, it's tempting to grab something unhealthy on the way out, or just skip breakfast altogether.
To avoid this situation, I usually plan out my recipes for the week over the weekend so I exactly know what I am going to make/have on which day based on my work schedule and what's in my pantry.
It literally takes me about 20 minutes of my weekend, and trust me, it is time well-spent! This practice really keeps me honest when it comes to my meals.
Ingredients needed
Peaches: This stone-fruit is sweet and a good source of antioxidants and dietary fiber. You can find them in your local grocery store.
Here are some tips on how to choose and store peaches:
-
- Look for peaches that are fragrant and bright colored
- Gently squeeze them - if there's some give then the peach is ripe and ready to use. If the fruit is firm, it is not fully ripe. Choose peaches based on when you plan on using them.
- Store them at room temperature when you get home
- If they get ripe and you still don't plan on using them just yet, you can store them in your refrigerator for a couple of days.
- Peaches bruise easily, so be careful and don't store them on top of one another.
Pitting a peach can be troublesome sometimes. Usually, just cutting the peach into two halves around the pit, will allow the pit to fall out.
If however, this does not happen, use a knife or spoon to scoop out the pit.
Raspberries: This sweet fruit is a good source of vitamin C and dietary fiber.
You can usually find boxes of raspberries at your nearest grocery store.
-
- When choosing Raspberries, look for ones that are plump and firm.
- Don't store these fruits for too long, the fresher they are when you eat them, the better they taste.
- Raspberries will bruise easily, so don't place them under running water. Instead, dip them in a bowl of water to clean them.
Here's how to make it

Top tips, recommendations, and suggestions
I divided the process into 2 steps because I wanted a color gradient in my smoothie. However, you can just add all the ingredients to the blender in one shot and blend
You can use dairy/non-dairy milk based on your preference. This does not affect the taste of the smoothie in any way.
I have made this smoothie with both peeled and unpeeled peaches. Again, you are free to choose from. I prefer un-peeled because this preserves the nutritional value of the peach.
I use fresh raspberries, but in the event, you can't find them fresh, you will usually find frozen Raspberries in the frozen foods aisle.
I use bananas (frozen or fresh) to make my smoothies thick and creamy.
Both peaches and bananas are naturally sweet - so there is no need to add any more sugar to this smoothie.
I use the Hamilton Beach 53603 SoundShield Blender to make my smoothies.
