Just last week I took a challenge upon myself to make 5 different kinds of Banana Smoothie. I had a great time making it. It was a fun challenge and in that bargain we consumed some healthy drinks for breakfasts. Cherry Vanilla Protein Shake is another smoothie recipe which we love to have occasionally. While I was shopping for my weekly groceries the other day, I came across this mixed cherry box which I grabbed immediately. I love berries and use them a lot in my cooking. Strawberry & Oats Ice cream, Eggless Blueberry Mug Cake are my favorites!
I wanted to try a smoothie using all these cherries – strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. Smoothies are a popularly preferred breakfast option because its easy to make, quick to prepare, appetizing and super healthy. It has been few weeks now that we have smoothies for breakfast. No one is complaining! I ensure that I make different varieties of smoothies to give us new flavors and make it even more appealing.
The benefits of consuming chia seeds are numerous. They need to be soaked before using so that the body can get full benefit by digesting them quickly and effectively, thus utilizing all of the nutritional value immediately. Just a few of their benefits are high protein and fiber content, lots of good fats and omega 3 fatty acids and a good dose of lignans (phytonutrients that attack free radicals). Once gelatinous, they are not only in their healthiest form, but also easy to put into shakes, mixes, and more. So the first step is to soak chia seeds in little water.
In a blender, add milk, greek yogurt, all the kinds of berries, honey, soaked chia seeds and oats powder. You can also add protein powder now.
Blend it to a thick and creamy smoothie.
This smoothie is best served chilled. So the trick is to use cold milk or add some ice cubes.
4 Berry Chia Seeds Power Smoothie
- 1/2 cup of mixed cherries
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp chia seeds and water
- 1 tbsp oats powder
- 2 tbsp protein powder optional
- Soak chia seeds in little water.
- In a blender, add milk, greek yogurt, all the kinds of berries, honey, soaked chia seeds and oats powder. You can also add protein powder now.
- Blend it to a thick and creamy smoothie. Best served chilled. The trick is to use cold milk if not adding ice cubes.
4 Berry Chia Seeds Power Smoothie is a very tasty drink. It’s rich, creamy, thick and delicious. The berries burst out their flavors when mixed together. You can make it vegan by using any other milk like Soy/Almond or Coconut milk.
