Healthy Pear & Plums Breakfast Smoothie is a delicious way to start your morning! This dairy free fruit drink is packed with greens, healthy protein and fiber.
For a person who doesn’t like consuming fruits so much, I surely do make a lot of smoothies! Well, it’s true that I am not a fan of eating fruits but juicing them is not a problem. As long as I don’t see and chew fruits, I am fine. Silly right? If you have been following my journey here, you will know that I love sharing my smoothie recipes on the blog. Drinking a smoothie in the morning has now somehow become a fixation for me. I need it everyday to feel refreshed and motivated. Healthy fruit based smoothies pep me up instantly plus they are great for weight loss. Since I love berries in my morning drink, I would always add them to my smoothie. But then I got bored with it and decided to do something about it. That is when my views on the fruits section at the groceries aisle change. Till now, I would quickly grab the box of mixed berries and be on my way. Now I began to spend more quality time here to pick and choose my fruits more carefully. I began pairing up fruits based on their taste and properties.
There are so many fruits in the world then why should we settle for the same smoothie recipe every time? Whenever we do our weekly groceries now, we try to get a new fruit combo every time. There are many benefits of this. One, we get to try different varieties of delicious fruits every week, they act as great meal replacements, help in burning fat, provide required protein and vitamins to the body and of course they taste great. This week I got pears and plums from the market. Now I have never tried a pear before but have used plums before in this recipe – Spiked Plums & Strawberries Juice. I was excited to pair these two fruits to make a drink. Did you know that pears have been eaten since prehistoric times! Guess, they knew it back then, how good this fruit is. Consuming a pear regularly benefits digestive health, fight dehydration, provides antioxidants, vitamin C and fiber.
You can prepare a milk or yogurt based smoothie. But I usually go for milk based recipes for no particular reason. We have begun to prefer dairy free milk to make our smoothies and that is why we have begun experimenting with various nut milks. I prepare almond milk at home regularly, however, KR got pea protein milk this time as he wanted us to try this milk out. We really liked this milk when compared to other store-bought milks. The recipe I followed goes something like this – In a blender add any milk and chia seeds. Leave it for a minute so that the chia seeds swell up. Then add peeled and chopped pear, plums, strawberries and cantaloupe. Add organic protein powder and blitz to make a smooth and creamy smoothie. No additional sugar or honey is required as the fruits have a natural sweetness which is more than enough. You can add ice cubes as well but I like to have my smoothies thick and not diluted.
It’s a personal choice. Healthy Pear & Plums Breakfast Smoothie is ready! Serve the smoothie immediately. No need to strain it as well. I also poured rose syrup on top just for more effect and to make it appetizing. Pears and plums paired beautifully, making this delicious power smoothie one irresistible drink. This recipe will help you with your healthier eating goal this year while also satisfying your cravings. We had this thick and creamy milkshake or smoothie every morning that week and I could finally say that I have tasted a pear! This smoothie is so good that I don’t mind having it for breakfast or even as a dessert! Making a smoothie in the mornings is the best kind of breakfast as its quick to make, can be made ahead, requires few ingredients and you can make a new kind every day!
