    Holiday treats like these!

I have always loved veg Alfredo pasta! It is one of my favorite meals to order at an Italian restaurant.

That's why it's exciting for me to recreate a classic at home and give it my own twist.

Pasta, cheese, and baking are a deadly combo! One cannot really go wrong with this dish. Try this Veg Alfredo Cheesy Mustard Mug Bake this festive season!

It has everything you need. Plus, I have given the regular veggie pasta sauce a new and different mustard-garlic flavor.

This veg Alfredo Pasta bake will leave everyone drooling and will keep coming back for seconds.

    Why this Mustard sauce

Our friends at Maille know how much we love their products. I have made Green Peas Spinach Pastry Puffs, Mustard Coconut Rice, and Grilled Potatoes in Mustard Gravy using Maille Dijon Originale.

So when they asked me to create a holiday recipe using Maille Mustard, I was more than happy to do so.

I particularly love their Maille Dijon Originale Mustard. It's creamy, delicious, and filled with a slight tang, which is perfect for my mustard-loving self.

While thinking of how to use my favorite condiment in a holiday recipe,  I stopped at the idea of making a delicious vegetarian mustard cream Alfredo pasta sauce!

Strong Dijon mustard stirred into a decadently prepared rich butter-and-cream sauce goes perfectly with pasta!

Plus, Maille products are low fat, low in calories and the brand has a long history of keeping people healthy while adding a lot of flavors.

BTW, you can also join their Facebook Group: the My Maille Community that was launched just a year ago.

It is already one of the most successful Food Groups on Facebook, with more than 48,000 members.

Joining it is a fun way to discover new recipes and make new friends.

    Why make this

I am a pasta lover. My week is incomplete without a pasta dish on the weekly menu. I also occasionally enjoy baked pasta. Remember this vegetarian baked pasta recipe - Tomato Rotini Pasta Bake?

I feel this is the perfect meal to serve when the weather gets cooler or when you are crunched for time, without sacrificing the flavor.

With minimal prep time and basic ingredients, you can now wow your dinner guests (or just yourself!) by making this cheesy Vegetarian Alfredo pasta bake!

    • Great meatless main dish
    • Quick and easy to make
    • A vegetarian baked pasta dish but it can easily be customized to vegan
    • It's a fun way to serve pasta in mugs
    • Loved by all across ages
    • A comforting and hearty meal

    Ingredients needed

all the ingredients needed to make Vegetarian Alfredo Cheesy Mustard Mug Bake placed on a tray with labels on them

That's all you need to make this!

This is one of the simplest recipes ever! With just a few basic ingredients, you can make a drool-worthy holiday treat - Veg Alfredo Pasta Bake!

Pasta - Use any variety of pasta. It can be whole wheat, refined flour, or any other alternate pasta will work.

Since these are served in mugs, I prefer using mini pasta.

Maille Dijon Originale Mustard is the mustard sauce I have used. This is the surprise element in this veggie pasta sauce recipe, giving it a refreshing zing.

White sauce - I have used classic homemade Alfredo sauce made with butter, flour, and milk.

However, you can use any dairy or non-dairy white sauce. You can also use a store-bought one.

Cheese - I have used 2 varieties of cheese in this recipe - Mozarella and Parmesan. But feel free to experiment with other cheese varieties.

You can also use dairy-free cheese here.

Garlic - This is what gives this delicious pasta bake its aromatic flavor. Use lots of it.

Seasonings - Crushed black pepper, red pepper flakes, and dried herbs.

    Here's how to make it

One of the easiest recipes ever!

This is one of those recipes where the efforts are minimal and the results are amazing!

If preparing Alfredo sauce from scratch, then prepare it in advance and keep.

    1. Cook the pasta as per the instructions on the packet. I always cook it al dente.
    2. Heat oil or butter in a pan and fry minced garlic till they turn light golden.
    3. Then add Maille Dijon Originale Mustard and mix it with the garlic. Cook for another minute.
    4. Add the white sauce, mix and continue to cook for 2 more minutes or till the veggie pasta sauce comes to a boil.
    5. Add the grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese along with crushed black pepper. Give it all a good mix.
    6. Lastly, add the cooked pasta and mix it all together.
    7. Fill oven-safe mugs with this prepared pasta.
    8. Garnish with some grated mozzarella cheese, red pepper flakes, and dried herbs. Bake or microwave for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.

Note - My Alfredo sauce already had salt in it, so I didn't need to add salt separately. Please add salt if required.

This creamy golden mustard and garlic flavored Alfredo sauce has a very distinct aroma and flavor. It has the word crowd-pleaser written all over it!

Serve these mug bakes at parties, game nights, get-togethers, events, date nights, or family brunches.

Since these are single-serve, you can make many servings with just one packet of pasta! This makes it perfect for the holidays. Try it today!

This quick vegetarian Alfredo pasta supper with warm, mildly spicy flavors, is perfect for a cool fall or winter evening.

    Top tips, recommendations, and suggestions

Use any variety of pasta. It can be whole wheat, refined flour, or any other alternate pasta will work. Just get the mini pasta kind.

Cook the pasta in vegetable stock instead of water for more flavor and nutrients.

While you can make classic homemade Alfredo sauce from scratch with butter, flour, and milk, you can use any dairy or non-dairy white sauce. Even store-bought one can be used.

You can also try this recipe with Marinara or Pesto sauce.

Use whatever cheese is available to use. but mozzarella and Parmesan go very well in this recipe. If you are vegan, use dairy-free cheese instead.

You can cook the pasta in advance and refrigerate or freeze it for later use. Even the white sauce can be prepared in advance.

Assemble the pasta, add the cheese, and bake when you are ready to serve. They taste best when served immediately else then can dry up.

Store the remaining pasta in the fridge for 3-4 days. They will become dry. Add some milk or cream to get the desired consistency before serving.

Feel free to add some minced veggies like corn, green peas, mushroom, broccoli, or any greens to add more flavor to this cheesy snack.

If you don't want to serve them in mugs, you can serve them in mini casseroles, or serve as one main dish. The choice is yours.
