Kurmura Chiwda - Make Ahead Meals

Make ahead meals are so much fun. Now be prepared whenever hunger strikes at odd hours! Try this mason jar dry snack made using kurmura/puffed rice & spices.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups kurmura
  • 3 tbsps roasted chana dal
  • 3-4 green chillies - finely chopped
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt for seasonings
  • Mustard seeds for tempering
  • 1/2 cup Nylon sev
  • 2 tbsp dried cilantro flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Dry roast the puffed rice in a pan for 3-4 minutes.  Try one to see if it has turned crispy enough. Be careful to not burn it. It's done then. Take it off the pan. Heat oil in the same pan. Temper mustard seeds. Add green chillies and curry leaves. Fry for a minute. Then add the turmeric powder and salt. Mix and take it off the flame. Now you can mix it all up in a regular mixing bowl. But I wanted to mix it up in a mason jar as it's more fun this way. Fill the jar with puffed rice/kurmura, add the seasonings, dried cilantro flakes and sev. This is my favorite part, shake the jar and get it all mixed up well.
NOTES
You can added roasted peanuts to this mix as well.
