INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp urad dal
  • 1 tbsp chana dal
  • 4-5 pieces curry leaves
  • 3 pieces green chillies
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 20 slices bread
  • 1/3 cup cilantro
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Salt as required

INSTRUCTIONS

  • It tastes best if you use leftover bread. First you need to shred the bread to pieces. In a pan, heat oil. Temper mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, green chillies and asafoetida. Once the lentils turn golden, add turmeric powder and saute for thirty seconds. Then add the bread pieces and salt. Mix it together with the spices and cook for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro and lime juice. Serve warm. 
NOTES
You can use fresh or leftover bread for this recipe.
Any kind of bread (white/whole wheat) can be used.
Garnish with sev as well if you like the taste.
