But first, what is Thandai?
One main ingredient in this recipe is Thandai Masala. What is it?
- Thandai is a milk-based drink that is very popular in the north of India and is often consumed during the Holi festival.
- A special Thandai masala is prepared using a variety of nuts and spices. This masala is then mixed in milk and served chilled.
- It is an extremely refreshing and delicious drink.
Where can you get thandai masala?
To prepare Thandai, you need the masala. I normally make it at home. You can get the recipe here. You can also purchase it at any Indian grocery store.
Since I had some leftover thandai masala, I decided to create a fusion dessert with it.
Making Thandai Chocolate Bark is extremely easy and is a great way to involve children in cooking.
Instructions to make this no-cook bark recipe
I like recipes like these are mess-free and require fewer utensils which means you have less mess to clean. All you need is a microwave-safe bowl.
- Melt white chocolate chips completely. I keep checking on it every 15 seconds.
- Once it's completely melted, take it out of the microwave and add Thandai masala to it. Fold it in the chocolate.
- Line a cookie tray with parchment paper and pour this mixture over it. Using a spatula, spread it flat. Do not spread it very thin.
- Chop almonds, cashews, and pistachios using a nuts chopper. . Sprinkle them all over the chocolate along with edible dried rose petals.
- Let it set/harden at room temperature for a couple of hours.
- To fasten the process, you can set it in the fridge.
Serving suggestions
Once they have hardened, break them randomly. Serve chilled.
You can either pack them in gift boxes and share it with your loved ones or serve them as holiday treats at the next party you host.
To make this an even more fun treat, stick a Thandai Bark in a glass of hot milk, and serve!
How to store them
Store them in the fridge since it has chocolate. Serve as and when needed. This stays good for weeks.
