This incredibly easy recipe yields the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth lemon cream cheese bites! Make them in any color! Ideal for gifting & holidays!
Moving to the US post my marriage was indeed a big step for me personally and culturally! New place, new friends, new everything. I had to adjust not just with the man I was living with 😉 but with everything around me. It has definitely been a roller coaster for me, more fun, less scary! I am person who loves to socialize unlike KR who is a homebody! If given a chance, he would just sit in his movie room all by himself and hibernate! He practically lived like this till I came into his life. He sadly claims that now he is unable to do so. 🙂 Me on the other hand, love to meet new people, make new friends and be more aware of what is happening around me socially. That was one of the reasons why I started mingling with my neighbors in our community and eventually ended up making some great friends who are not Indians. In these last 5 years, I have celebrated Cinco De Mayo, Oktoberfest, Halloween and Thanksgiving parties with our neighbors and it has been so much fun!
The equation with one another has become so good that we have even begun to invite each other on personal events. Recently I had been to a neighbor’s Baby shower and it was so much fun. It was my first American style baby shower and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All their traditions, games and food was so much different to ours which was very insightful for me. There were many dishes on the menu that wowed me and one such was this dish called Cream Cheese Mints. I noticed that the kids at the party were going bonkers with it and were filling not just their hands but also their pockets and bags with it. This got me intrigued and I tried one for myself. That’s when I realized why these delicious bites were getting so much attention from all. They melted in my mouth and were wonderfully sweet with a hint of mint flavor. I got back home and went to my favorite visual search engine – Pinterest and I was amazed to see so many recipes of Cream Cheese Mint there. I wanted to try a new flavor and hence decided to go with lemon.
You will be amazed at how simple this recipe is! Just 3 ingredients from your pantry is all you need. First beat cream cheese using a hand mixer until smooth. Then add lemon extract and sugar and beat again until combined. Use your hand to shape them into small 1/2″ balls and place them on a wax paper or parchment lined tray. I used a 1 tbsp measuring spoon to get even balls. Press flat with a fork to give them a design and then chill in refrigerator or at room temperature until ready to serve. That is it! You can then store in an airtight container for up to two weeks or freeze for up to two months. Enjoy! The hint of lemon flavor lends a certain freshness to the recipe. I prepared these lemon cream cheese bites for Diwali this year and gifted them to my friends. Everyone loved it and wanted to know what it was. I can totally see myself making these again in my kitchen, especially when I have kids visiting.

No-Cook Lemon Cream Cheese Bites
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp lemon extract
- 3 cups sugar
