Stop drooling and grab one!
You will not regret having it. I know that these Rose flavored Coconut Balls or Ladoos are drool-worthy but do you know that it can be made using just 5 basic ingredients and that too in just 1o minutes! You read it right..in 10 minutes only. That is the beauty of this dessert. This ladoo can be made for any occasion like a celebrating an occasion, house party, on a festival day, for gifting purpose or if you have guests who announce a surprise visit. Specially if you are making this for kids then I assure you that they will gorge on these yummy ladoos without any fuss. And yes, this also applies to other fussy eaters! 😉 If I remember correctly then, Coconut Ladoo was the first dessert I made solely by myself without the guidance of my mom. I insisted that I was ready to make it by myself and my mom let me do it. Since I had seen her make this a million times before, I knew the recipe by heart.
Memories, memories and then some more!
It was my dad’s birthday and I wanted to make something special for him. Back then I didn’t give them a rose flavor though. It was just the simple Coconut Ladoo recipe. That day was indeed special because my dad told me that he loved it and complimented me saying that they tasted exactly like the way mom made it. Even though I knew that they were not shaped properly and maybe it lacked some sweetness, I felt a sense of achievement that day. My dad had chosen to encourage and motivate me instead of counting the flaws. That’s how parents are! Whenever I make this dessert, these memories come flooding back to me! The first time I made it here was for a Dessert Cook Off challenge at KR’s work place. I selected this sweet dish for 3 main reasons. 1) It is an Indian dish 2) It could be made within 10 minutes and 3) Recipes like these are great when you need large quantities.
Note down the recipe
Since I enjoy creating new and different recipes, giving the regular Coconut Ladoo a new twist was something exciting for me. First you need to dry roast the desiccated coconut or coconut powder for 2 minutes on medium flame. Be careful to not burn it. Add sweetened condensed milk, rose water and roohafza/rose syrup to it and mix well. Cook this mixture for another 2 minutes. The mixture will not stick to the pan and come together. Add ghee and Everest Kesari Milk Masala, mix and take it off the flame. Let it cool for few seconds. Then rub some ghee in your palm and start to make medium-sized balls of this mixture. Roll these balls over leftover desiccated coconut. Rose flavored Coconut Balls are done. That’s it..as promised..in 10 minutes flat! So yes, next time you in a similar situation or just feel like trying out something new, do give this recipe a try. You can even make this with kids. They would enjoy the process and the outcome.
