A healthy & refreshing Jalapeno Cucumber Lemonade with Mint & no added sugars! A hint of heat adds an unexpected twist to this summertime favorite drink!
Jalapeno Cucumber Mint Lemonade is one of the most refreshing drinks you will ever have. The tangy flavor of the lemon and the coolness of cucumber makes this lemonade a party favorite! But wait, did I say Cucumber Lemonade?? Yes, I did! In fact, even I would not have believed if you told me this till I tried to make this myself. I can eat cucumber raw in a salad, raita or even in a sandwich but to have it as a juice, I really had my doubts. I had heard about this drink at a bar on a girl’s night out and it intrigued me immediately. I have obviously made the regular lemonade/nimbu paani before so I figured this one would mean adding cucumber to it. I never imagined that this drink would taste so good. This drink is a spin-off to the Indian lemonade as known as Nimbu Paani. Nimbu means lemon in Hindi and paani means water. This drink was a savior for all of us especially in Summers. Every house would make it fresh nearly every day and all would quench their thirst with this cool drink. My mom would make it with fresh lemons, sugar, salt and water. A very basic recipe that would be ready within seconds and be 100% delicious. We would look forward to coming home after playing in the morning sun to a chilled glass of lemonade.
This is such a popular refreshing drink in India, that you will find many vendors on the streets selling freshly made Nimbu Paani/Lemonade. Even when we used to go to our native place in South of India on our summer holidays, my dad would always insist that we have a glass of this drink every day, especially if we were out travelling in the scorching sun. This was his way of keeping us hydrated and energetic. Those were the days when we were not concerned about the water being used by the street vendor or the general hygiene around making it. Today we insist that they use packaged water and gloves when preparing anything on the streets. It is for the good but back then, all these things didn’t matter. We still managed to stay healthy and not fall sick on our vacations. These childhood memories are golden and my recipe today is dedicated to those memories. Any lemonade always tastes better when using fresh lemons instead of processed lemon juice and I do just that whenever I make lemonade at home. The recipe I conceived is all thanks to different cocktails I have enjoyed in the past. I like the hint of a little spice in my drink and I used that in this drink as well. Mint was added to give it a refreshing flavor and color.
Cucumber is the soul of this juice. Here is a fun fact for you. Did you know that cucumber is not a vegetable but a fruit? Cucumbers are low in calories and contain a good amount of water and soluble fiber, making them ideal for promoting hydration and aiding in weight loss. Cucumber Lemonade flavored with jalapeno and mint is the perfect healthy refreshment for warm days and summer parties! Initially I had to planned to make this drink for KR as I didn’t just think that I might enjoy it so much. How wrong I was! This drink is so damn exhilarating. Cucumbers in it bring in a certain freshness and coolness to this lemonade. I was just glad that I tried this drink and then kept sipping on it all throughout the day. It was working like wine for me. With every sip I kept thinking that why didn’t I make this earlier. It’s a ridiculously simple recipe using few ingredients. Just roughly chop the cucumber after peeling it. In a blender, add them along with fresh squeezed lemon juice, black salt, mint leaves and water. You can add ice cubes as well. Blend it. Strain it. Pour in glasses with crushed ice and jalapeno slices. Serve chilled. I am surely going to make this the next time I have guests over. You can also have this post workout. A must try for all!

- 2 cucumber
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water/soda
- 1-2 tsp black salt
- 8-10 mint leaves
- ice cubes as required
- 1/2 tbsp sugar optional
- 1 Jalapeno
- Just roughly chop the cucumber after peeling it. In a blender, add them along with fresh squeezed lemon juice, black salt, mint leaves and water. You can add ice cubes as well. Blend it. Strain it. Pour in glasses with crushed ice and jalapeno slices. Serve chilled.
