Paneer Makhani

Paneer Makhani is a popular Indian gravy served at all major Indian restaurants. Paneer is cooked in rich tomato gravy and Indian spices. One of the simplest Paneer dishes ever!

  • 500 gms paneer
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 1 tin tomato puree
  • 2 tsp chilly powder/paprika
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tbp kasoori methi
  • 1/4 cup cream


  • Mince garlic using this garlic chopper. Cut paneer into squares. In a flat pan, shallow fry them till they turn golden. Keep them aside.
  • Heat another pan, melt butter, fry minced garlic, ginger paste and bay leaf for a minute. Then add tomato puree, salt and chilly powder. Mix and saute this mixture for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
  • The tomato gravy will start to thicken. Now add the slit green chillies, kasoori methi and fresh cream. Give it a good mix. Let it cook for a minute or 2. Add the fried paneer pieces before serving.
  • Paneer Makhani is ready. Serve it hot with some naan or Sesame flavored Rice or even Saffron Rice.
