Blueberry Popsicles With Masala Soda
Beat the heat with a burst of bold flavor! These Blueberry Masala Soda Popsicles are anything but ordinary. A playful fusion of sweet, juicy blueberries and the tangy, spiced fizz of Indian masala soda, this recipe is inspired by nostalgic street drinks and summer berry cravings.
Refreshing, hydrating, and loaded with real fruit, these homemade popsicles are my healthy twist on the classic Kala Khatta—a beloved dark purple sherbet made from Jamun. With no artificial ingredients or preservatives, these vibrant popsicles are perfect for summer parties, post-meal refreshers, or simply cooling down on a hot day.
They’re easy to make, naturally vegan, and loved by both kids and adults. If you're craving something fun, flavorful, and totally unique—this is the summer treat for you!
Kala Khatta Meets Blueberry Popsicle
Summer breaks meant freedom—early morning bike rides with friends, no homework, and the joy of stopping at our favorite shop for colorful, ice-cold popsicles. We’d laugh over our stained tongues—mine usually purple from Kala Khatta, my all-time favorite.
While my mom could recreate orange popsicles at home, Kala Khatta—with its deep purple hue and tangy, spiced flavor made from Jamun—was tougher to replicate. She’d also make refreshing Indian masala soda whenever guests came over—a fizzy, spiced lemonade that instantly cooled us down.
This summer, I decided to blend those two memories into one treat. Since Jamuns aren’t easily available here in the U.S., I used blueberries for their similar color and tartness. The result? These Blueberry Masala Soda Popsicles—a nostalgic, real-fruit twist on the classic Kala Khatta, perfect for hot days.

Tips to make these real fruit Popsicles
My version of healthy Kala Khatta Popsicles is ridiculously easy to make. You may use frozen or fresh blueberries, however, frozen works better here. You can use regular water instead of soda or sparkling water. You can consume it like a chilled drink if you don't want to make Popsicles.
Add any sweetener of your choice if you feel the need. If you don't have Popsicle molds, use any mold or even paper cups.
The easiest way to remove these Popsicles from the molds
The secret to removing these real fruit popsicles from the molds easily is by running them under warm water for a few seconds before pulling them out of the mold.
Tip the molds sideways and run the popsicle you want out under the warm water for about 10-15 seconds. Gently pull on the stick to loosen. If it doesn’t come out easily, simply run it under the water for a few more seconds!
