I simply love Watermelon! It’s the watermelon season and I am not getting enough of it already! Publix is running a buy one get one offer on watermelon chunks and I need that in my house every week. You can imagine the number of times I prepare fresh watermelon juice in my kitchen. I am lazy to get a whole watermelon and cut it, so I prefer these as its more handy and can be used immediately. That ways, whenever I crave to an easy fruit smoothie, I make my own watermelon cooler. It either makes it to my breakfast table or its there right next to my evening snack. I need this drink daily as its so refreshing, light and low cal. I was doing just good with this drink until I heard of a spiked version of it! Did you eyes lit up like mine did when I heard of this? Then read on.
It was a coincidence of sorts when one of my friend from Chicago called to chat and both of us were sipping watermelon juice at that very time. After a hearty laugh, we being avid recipe collectors, immediately exchanged our drink recipe with each other. After hearing her recipe, I felt mine was a straightforward recipe while hers had an edge. Made a mental note to self that I needed to try out her version very soon. She in turn loved my Oats & Veggie Mini Pancakes recipe that she saw on my Facebook page and told me that she was making it for breakfast the next day. You see, this is why I love talking to my family and friends so much. You never know when, where and what recipe is hidden in such conversations! Ever since I got this recipe to make watermelon drink, I have not gone back to mine. This drink is spiked with Indian spices.
I am sure you too want to know how to make this drink. So here it is. Having a good blender is essential in juicing. I am glad to have this blender in my kitchen and I whip up all my smoothies and fruit juices in this blender. In this blender, add watermelon chunks, roasted cumin powder, crushed pepper, black salt, turmeric powder and water/ice cubes. Blitz. No need to strain this juice. Some like to add lemon juice in it as well, but I didn’t. I liked it this way. Serve this drink chilled. You can also make this drink and store it for 2 days in the fridge. Indian Watermelon Cooler is truly the ultimate Summer Drink! This easy recipe is the perfect drink to cool you down on a warm summer day. Especially the way Florida seems to be in summers, I think I cannot do without this drink.

Indian Watermelon Cooler - A summer Drink!
- 1 cup watermelon chunks
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder
- 1 tsp black salt
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- water/ice cubes as required
- In this blender, add watermelon chunks, roasted cumin powder, crushed pepper, black salt, turmeric powder and water/ice cubes. Blitz. No need to strain this juice. Some like to add lemon juice in it as well, but I didn't. I liked it this way. Serve this drink chilled.
